Police stepped in when a corpse was found on the pitch of an English League One team.

English police initiated an inquiry following the discovery of a male corpse at The Valley, Charlton Athletic's home stadium, on the morning of August 18. This event caused a Charlton U21 game to change its venue.

According to the Metropolitan Police, authorities were called to The Valley at around 11:15 AM on August 18 after receiving a report about a person's condition. Police and London ambulance staff quickly arrived and found a 33-year-old man deceased at the scene.

The victim's family has been notified and is receiving support from authorities. Police are continuing their investigation to clarify what happened.

According to initial information from authorities, the man may have fallen from a height. However, this is only a line of investigation, and no official conclusion has been reached regarding the cause of death. The death is currently being treated as unexpected by police.

Charlton Athletic later issued a statement confirming the incident at the club's home ground. The club said it had cooperated with the police and extended condolences to the victim's family, friends, and loved ones.

The decision was made while police were still carrying out procedures and investigations.
