OFFICIAL: My Dinh Stadium will not host the prestigious Asian competition.

As per the AFC fixture list, Viettel will still compete in the AFC Champions League Two group stage at Hang Day Stadium, not at My Dinh Stadium.

Despite having registered My Dinh Stadium as their home ground for the 2026/27 season, The Cong – Viettel will continue to use Hang Day Stadium for at least the first leg of the 2026/27 V.League. The official fixture confirms that Hang Day Stadium has been selected as the home venue for the army team in the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Two. This is because My Dinh Stadium is not yet prepared to host The Cong – Viettel's games as initially planned.

This results in a unique situation where Hang Day Stadium will host two Vietnamese teams in Asian tournaments at the same time. In addition to The Cong – Viettel, it is already the regular home ground of Cong An Ha Noi. Unless there is a last-minute alteration, both CAHN's home games in the AFC Champions League Elite and The Cong – Viettel's in the AFC Champions League Two will take place at the stadium on Trinh Hoai Duc Street.

During the group stage draw for the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Two on August 18 in Kuala Lumpur, The Cong – Viettel were drawn into Group E with FC Seoul (South Korea), Melbourne Victory (Australia), and the winner of the matchup between Indonesia's Persib Bandung and the Philippines' Manila Digger. The last team in the group will be decided after the preliminary round match expected on August 31.

Group E is seen as a tough challenge for The Cong – Viettel, given the presence of seasoned international opponents. FC Seoul is a major force in South Korean football, and Melbourne Victory has frequently taken part in AFC club tournaments. Nonetheless, having home games at Hang Day, a venue where Viettel's players are thoroughly accustomed to the field conditions, might prove to be a significant asset.

In the meantime, Cong An Ha Noi steps into the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite with a particularly demanding schedule. Following the League Stage draw, also on August 18 in Kuala Lumpur, coach Mano Polking's side was set to face eight different clubs. Remarkably, five of them are from Japan: Kashima Antlers, Vissel Kobe, Kashiwa Reysol, Kyoto Sanga FC, and Gamba Osaka.

This marks CAHN's debut in the AFC Champions League Elite League Stage. The current V.League champions secured their place by defeating Australia's Adelaide United 2-0 in the play-off, making them the only Vietnamese team in Asia's premier club competition this season. Since both CAHN and The Cong – Viettel have selected Hang Day, this venue will be the center of Vietnamese football in the 2026/27 Asian cup tournaments.
